Apple Watch Series 3

The Apple Watch is now in its third iteration, and while it may appear that not much has changed on the surface, there have been some developments under the hood The big draw for the Series 3 is the option of LTE connectivity. This means greater independence from your paired iPhone, and always-on connectivity wherever you get network coverage. The best news of all is that your Apple Watch 3 will share the same phone number as your iPhone, doing away with one of the biggest grievances of previous LTE-enabled smartwatches: juggling multiple numbers If you’re in the UK then it’s worth noting that, right now, only EE supports LTE connectivity for the Apple Watch Series 3, and this will cost £5 in addition to your standard monthly network tariff. The feature is more widely supported by US carriers and you can expect to pay an extra $10 on top of your usual contract for a smartwatch plan The Watch Series 3 sees performance improvements, too. Apple iPhone 8 Plus review

The Good  Fantastic dual-lens camera shoots better than ever with improved   portrait mode. Adds wireless charging. Lightning-fast speed. Starts at 64GB The Bad Dated design. Most competing Android phones have even larger screens. Upcoming iPhone X could be a more compelling choice The Bottom Line  The iPhone 8 Plus is a superlative phone with a spectacular camera, but wait for the upcoming iPhone X before buying: it promises to fold all of the key features of the 8 Plus into a smaller, sexier package Apple's fanciest iPhone isn't here yet. But the innards of that fancy  iPhone X  already exist -- mostly, anyway -- inside a phone you can get right now: the iPhone 8 Plus The iPhone X will arrive on Nov. 3, complete with the overdue, wild redesign we've been waiting on for years. It's almost all screen, with Apple's first ever OLED display and largest ever 5.8-inch size, crammed into a body that's not too much larger than the 4.7-inch iPhones. The X

Facebook and Instagram services restored after major global disruption

Facebook and  Instagram  were offline to many users on Wednesday afternoon in what appeared to be a global connection problem The website  Down Detector  suggested users of both social media sites began reporting problems at about 4pm, with Europe and North America seemingly worst hit, though this could be due to time zones and the number of Facebook users in different regions By around 6pm, the number of reported problem had dropped to normal levels  A Facebook spokesperson said: “Earlier today, a networking issue caused some people to have trouble accessing  Facebook  services. We quickly investigated and started restoring access within about an hour, and we have nearly fixed the issue for everyone. We’re sorry for the inconvenience”

iPhone 8 Plus: Apple looking into reports of batteries bursting out of smartphones

Apple is looking into multiple reports of batteries swelling within new  iPhone 8 Plus smartphones, which apparently broke them open as a result At least five separate reports of the new  5.5in iPhone 8 Plus  smartphones have shown deformed phones, swelled batteries and screens being detached from the aluminium bodies of the devices The reports have spanned  Hong Kong , Japan,  Taiwan ,  Canada and Greece , all displaying similar symptoms, making the notion that there was simply a single bad batch of devices coming off the production line less likely The incident led Samsung and others to double down on battery safety and testing, with some winding back on more less proven developments and decreasing battery energy capacity to focus on proven technology and avoid a similar billion-pound catastrophe While swelling batteries is not nearly as bad as the cells catching fire, the chemistry of modern lithium-ion batteries and the amount of energy they can store makes them dangero

Facebook Inc (FB) Stock and the Trials of Mark Zuckerberg

One month ago, I took a close look at  Facebook Inc  (NASDAQ: FB ) stock and asked readers whether the stock had finally topped out Since  then , it seems to have done just that — in the near term, anyway. FB stock has drifted sideways in a narrow range, from a Sept. 25 low below $163 per share to a recent high of over $174 per share. It opened for trade today at $172.61 per share The public image of the company has taken a decided turn for the worse. The fact that it let Russia influence the last election with ads  seems a given . Formerly hands-off governments are taking  a serious look at content regulation . Facebook Live, its video streaming service,  looks like a fail  as a marketing engine CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg is King of all Media at an age (33) when his peers haven’t yet paid off their student loans                 It’s good to be the king… except when the peasants come with pitchforks                        Going for the Crown The turning point for
